New Reading Reward Party Deadline!

To give people more time to read for the Reward Reading Reward party, Ms. Megan and Ms. Xeni are changing the deadline turning in Reading Log Sheets. The NEW DEADLINE is Tuesday, February 24! It's still 32 steps, though, to qualify for the par-tay!

Homework for January 26-30

First class of week: Read for 15-30 minutes in your independent reading book and keep track on your reading log sheets. Also, bring in your independent reading book to school. If it is from the classroom library and you are no longer reading it, please return it. You'll get a blue ticket if you do! Due January 27 for all classes except 6A; due January 28 for 6A.

Special Homework for 6A: What would you say in each situation? Write one informal answer and one formal answer for each situation. Due January 28.

1. Complain to a waitress that your meal is late.

2. Tell someone about your favorite movie.

3. Ask to use the bathroom.

Second class of week: Read for 15-30 minutes in your independent reading book and keep track on your reading log sheets. Due January 28 for all classes except 6A; due January 29 for 6A.

Third class of week: Read for 15-30 minutes in your independent reading book and keep track on your reading log sheets. Write a paragraph about a time when you or someone you know was treated unfairly. Due January 29 for 6B and 6D; due January 30 for 6A and 6C.

Fourth class of week: Read for 15-30 minutes in your independent reading book and keep track on your reading log sheets. Due February 2 for all classes.

Homework for January 12-16

1. Please complete the "flip" worksheet for homework. Due Tuesday for 6B, 6D; due Wednesday, January 14, for 6A and 6C.

2. Please read "A Fish with Whiskers" in the ELA Book 3 packet and complete section 33. Due Wednesday, January 14, for 6B and 6D; due Thursday, January 15, for 6A and 6C.

3. Finish section 34 (the essay) in the packet. Due Thursday, January 15, for 6B and 6D; due Friday, January 16, for 6A and 6C.

4. Complete 2007 ELA multiple-choice packet over the weekend. Due Tuesday, January 20, for 6A, 6B, and 6D. Due Wednesday, January 21, for 6C.

Reminder: DO NOW notebook due January 15 for 6B and 6D; due January 16 for 6A and 6C.

The NEXT Reading Reward Party!!!


We're gearing up for the next Reading Reward Party. Before February break, Ms. Megan and Ms. Xeni will host a February Break Reading Reward Party (the exact date, time, and place will be announced). To qualify, students must:

1) Complete at least 32 "steps" (1 step=reading for 15 minutes and writing a sentence about the reading).

2) Turning in the Reading Log Sheets no later than Tuesday, February 10. (Copies of Reading Log Sheets are available in class and can be printed from this blog.)

Homework for January 5-9

1) Complete any packet work you still need to finish. This includes the vacation packet and the "Grade 6, 2005, Multiple-Choice" packet. Also, keep reading. 6B, 6D: due January 6; 6A, 6C: due January 7.

2) Finish Section 27 in the ELA Listening Packet. Also, keep reading. 6B, 6D: due January 7; 6A, 6C: due January 8.

3) Finish Sections 28 and 29 in the ELA Listening Packet. Of course, keep reading! 6B, 6D: due January 8; 6A, 6C: due January 9.

4) Work on new ELA Listening Packet over the weekend. Finish section 30 of ELA Listening Packet if it is not completed in class. 6B, 6C, 6D: due January 12; 6A: due January 13.

These packets will be posted online shortly.

Also, information about the next Reading Reward challenge and party will be posted in the next day or two.
